Chosen & Set apart: When the call comes

This week began with a deep desire to renounce everything; to let go of all possessions and start fresh, like a blank white canvas.
My shell broke… No more pretending, no more proving, no more striving.

I wanted to release everything I had accumulated over the years, material or not. It all felt like a burden I was finally ready to lay down. I no longer wanted to be the “strong single mother who has it all.” I just wanted to be me: soft, real and intentional. To live a simple life, rooted in Christ.

I cried.
In that moment, I knew it was Him: His call for me to serve, surrender and truly live for Him.
(Ecclesiastes 3:5–7)

What answering the call means for me

(Ephesians 5:1–17)

I knew firsthand that it was time to let go. I had two options: keep going my own way and drown or answer the call. I chose to answer. I chose to let go.

By doing this, I chose to renounce the things of the past, to stop idolizing the ways of this world and to adopt Christlike behaviors, to be led by the Spirit.

I chose surrender.
To walk with Him and for Him.
To serve and obey  with no looking back.

For the first time, I didn’t ask, “How will I live without X, Y or Z?”. Instead, I asked, “How do I get rid of everything, Yah? How do You want me to proceed?”

As soon as I surrendered, the burden lifted. I realized that holding onto certain things had only kept me stuck, suffocating under weight I was never meant to carry. (Matthew 16:25)

The peace that followed this decision is unmatched. I felt free, ready to live the life He designed for me.

I’ve decided to release what the world expects me to be, the “strong, independent, I-got-it-all” version of me, and step fully into my life in Christ. My soft, raw and authentic life in Him.
I choose rest and authenticity over performance and impression.

I said “Yes”, Now what..?

My biggest fear has always been losing everything… or never receiving anything at all.
Because of that fear, I’ve held tightly to things Yah was asking me to release. Slowly, He stripped them away, not to harm me, but to free me.

I saw it coming, yet I resisted. Deep down, I knew my eyes were not on Him but on the things I feared losing.

But the Bible says:

“Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” (Matthew 6:33)

So what does that mean for me? It means my focus must shift to:

  • Strengthening my spiritual life

  • Living by faith

  • Walking in obedience

We see this clearly in Luke 5:3–6: Simon had been fishing all night and caught nothing. When Jesus stepped into his boat, He first led Simon to serve by taking Him where He needed to preach. Only then did He bless Simon with abundance, without him even asking.

Yah knows my needs. He knows my heart. He won’t leave me stranded so why stress? (Psalm 37:25)

I may not know what the future holds, but I know His plans for me are far greater than my own.
(Jeremiah 29:11)

Why Blog About It?

Because Yah called me to speak and share.
I’ve always said, “My life is a testimony of His glory,” and I stand by it.

If my story can touch and inspire even one or two people, if it draws someone closer to Him, then I’ve done my part.
We all need encouragement, support and reminders that faith is a journey, not a race.

It’s never too late to start again, no matter your past or your pain. With Christ in you, you are a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17).

Take a moment to reflect on what it is that Yah is asking you to let go of, and let this be the beginning of a beautiful journey for each of us who chooses to say "yes" when the call comes.
